New Home Pics

Decided to put up some pics of our new home. Some of the photos are taken with my sony ericsson k750i phone, so the quality isn't that great. If you see a christmas tree in some of the shots, its because most of these were taken in December 2006 just after we moved in.

Hope you enjoy the photos. We certainly do!

Pics of our living room. Small but cosy.

We got the little chair from Barang Barang and our sofa was from the Life Shop. It used to be in Raffles City but has now moved to Balestier. The umbrella light was bought from Harvey Norman in Millenia. Its looks like a photographer's light which my dad used to have. Yes he was a professional photographer before, but as you can tell, I haven't inherited any of his good skills. I just use a handphone camera and a simple canon powershot point and shoot camera.

The little cabinet is a restored piece which we got from the Loft at Centrepoint.

Haha sausage dog which we bought from Bangkok. But I think its made in Chiang Mai. Wallpaper of course from where else but Goodrich.

Pic of our dining table which we bought from the Life Shop. The flower arrangement was done at the Concourse at one of those flower shops. But they have all moved now to Tekka Mall. The glass vase was bought from Robinsons. I think the brand is Pollyanna.

This is a chandelier which we got from Robinsons during its 20% discount. Plus 5% from Robinsons card. It was a nightmare when it arrived, which was about 1 year before we put it up. Many of the crystal pieces were broken. But the guy at Robinsons who served us was very good. Teck Boon if I'm not wrong. He replaced the broken pieces immediately. The chandelier was eventually put up by our electrician who was recommended by our ID from Dyel Design (Yes Hello Diana!)

Pic of the cosy area. Looks quite grainy cos it was taken with my camera phone.

Some amateur editing done.

This one was taken with the Canon Powershot

Also in our cosy area. Thats a display plate/tray which we bought from France called "Liu". The flowers we got during Chinese New Year from China Town. Arranged by Lynn!

Pic of Lynn's dresser. Stuff also from Robinsons. Table and mirro from Kare.

We changed the door into Lynn's room to a clear glass door and added the string curtains. The padded thing you see in the background is actually the doors of the cupboard which we also changed to make it sliding. Hers is the nicest room in the house, but its difficult to get a good photo of everything, cos on the opposite side of the padded wardrobe, we've got another wardrobe which has very nice laminate. You've really got to step in to feel it.

AH! My favourite light called Peony which we bought from this Balestier shop called Lumiere. We bought most of our lights from them except the master bedroom chandelier.

Interesting clock in Lynn's room.

Some more of those display plates. These are Victor and Dian.

Pic of our bed in the master bedroom. Sheets from China Town.

Yes the chandelier in our master bedroom. We had a lot of trouble looking for this. Le me explain....We basically bought our home in June 2006, but didn't start renovating until about 1 year later. In the interim, we had been very busy but did squeeze in time to look at stuff. This particular style of light was common in 2006, but when we needed it in 2007, none of the shops had it. We walked up and down Balestier a few time and even went to other parts of Singapore. We eventually found it in the 2nd floor of this shop at Balestier and ordered it straight away.

Painting in our master bedroom - Hylars and the Nymphs

This is the painting in our walkway on entering the home. Nice castle! All framing and stretching done at this Latib guy opposite Tay Lian Teck.

Another painting which I liked. We've got a few more but the pictures didn't look that good.

More of those display plates from France. We bought quite a few of these. They don't look that great on my photos, but are really very very nice. We've got more designs.

Yes more display plates but not from France. Don't you think they are beautiful?

Haha, couldn't resist. Had to take some lousy photos of my pens. Just 4 of them here. They are not the super expensive kind, but I like all of them. I can't seem to find my blue Decimo. But in the pics are my Pilot Vanishing Points ( Blue Carbonesque and Silver Rhodium), Lamy Al Star ( Metallic Blue) and Lamy Safari ( Black Matt). All are medium nib except for my new blue carbonesque VP which is in fine nib. I have a silver Lamy Studio that I gave to my sister, but I am also hoping to buy the Lamy 2000 some time soon too.

For those of you who don't know, the Pilot Vanishing Point is in my humble opinion one of the best fountain pens around. Its got a 14k gold nib and writes like butter. Plus I really like it cos its retractable! No cap! Its a capless fountain pen. Have you ever heard of that???
